Statement of Beliefs

We believe that there is only one true God who has identified Himself as Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

We believe that God chose to reveal Himself throughout His Word and that the Bible is the infallible Word of God.

We believe that God chose to give us a greater revelation of Himself by sending the Word who was with God and was God to take on human flesh in the form of Jesus.

We believe that all men have sinned and sin separates man from God.

We believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, overcoming man’s nature to sin, died on the cross, overcoming the curse of sin, and rose again, overcoming the penalty of sin.

We believe that confession of one’s sin, belief that Jesus dealt with man’s sin on the cross, and yielding one’s life and actions of Jesus results in a relationship that is known as “salvation”.

We believe in the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of those who believe.

We believe that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to aid and encourage believers.

We believe that it is God’s desire for every man to know Him.

We believe that Jesus will come again as the Messiah foretold by the prophets in the Bible.

We believe that the “last days,” the period immediately preceding Christ’s second coming, will be marked by a period of great revival on the earth.

Our Worship is based upon the Bible pattern. The following will give you some information about our Church and explain the scriptural pattern of our Worship unto God.

"SOME WHY'S..."

WHY DO WE STAND TO SING?

"And the Levites. . . of the children of the Kohathites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high." (2 Chr. 20:19). "After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb" (Rev. 7:9-10).

WHY DO WE CLAP OUR HANDS?

"0 clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph" (Psalm 47:1).

WHY DO WE LIFT OUR HANDS?

"Thus I will bless Thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy name" (Psalm 63:4). "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord" (Psalm 134:2). "I will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting" (1 Tim. 2:8).

WHY DO WE HAVE AUDIBLE PRAISE UNTO GOD?

"Bless the Lord, 0 my soul: and all that is within me bless His holy name" (Psalm103:1) "And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven saying, Alleluia; Salvation and glory and honor, and power unto the Lord our God... And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of mighty thundering, saying Alleluia: for The Lord God omnipotent reigneth" (Rev. 19:1,6). "What is it then? I will pray with the Spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the Spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also" (1 Cor. 14:15).

WHY DO WE SING IN TONGUES AND IN ENGLISH?

"For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also" (1 Cor. 14:14-15).

WHY DO WE HAVE THIS TYPE OF WORSHIP?

"But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth" (John 4:23-24). "For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh" (Phil. 3:3).

WHY DO WE SING CHORUSES AS WELL AS HYMNS?

"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Eph. 5:18-19). "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" (Col. 3:16).

WHAT IS PROPHECY?

..... the Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy? (Amos 3:8). "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort" (1 Cor. 14:3).

WHY DO WE PROPHESY?

"Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy" (1 Cor. 14:1). "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal . . . To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy" (I Cor. 12:10). "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort" (I Cor. 14:3).

WHY DO WE HAVE SPEAKING WITH TONGUES AND INTERPRETATION OF THOSE TONGUES IN THE CHURCH?

"Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues" (1 Cor.14:39). "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal . . . To another divers kinds of tongues; to another to interpretation of tongues" (1 Cor. 12:7, 10). "I would that you all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interprets that the church may receiving edifying (1 Cor. 14:5). "If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most three, and that by course, and let one interpret" (1 Cor.14:27).

WHY ARE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS A PART OF THE WORSHIP SERVICE?

"Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the psaltry and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Praise Him with the stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the high sounding cymbols" (Psalm 150:3-5). "And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder; and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps" (Rev.14:2).

WHY DOES THE WHOLE CHURCH PRAY AT ONCE FOR SPECIFIC NEEDS?

"And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice with one accord, and said, Lord, Thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth. . ." (Acts 4:24)."But ye are come unto Mount Zion, and unto the City of the Living God, the heavenly Jerusalem . . . to the general assembly and church of the firstborn..." (Heb. 12:22-23).

SOME SCRIPTURAL TERMINOLOGY

THE ANOINTING - The presence and the work of the Holy Spirit in a person's life. "But the anointing which you have received on Him abideth in you..." (I John 2:27).

TO MINISTER - To serve or help another by the anointing of the Holy Spirit but our sufficiency is of God; who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament. . ."
(2 Cor. 3:5-6).

ZION - The hill in the Old Testament (in Jerusalem) where God's presence dwelt. God's presence is now in His Church (also called Mt. Zion).

THE GLORY - The manifestation of God's presence and splendor to the spiritual and physical faculties of man. "And it came to pass . . that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priest could not stand to minister. . . for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord" (I Kings 8:10-l1).

REVELATION - The manifestation of God's will and truths to man. "Wherefore I also . . . making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him..." (Eph. 1:15-17).
